- you should play an outside midfielf position. i played center mid all of my soccer playing years, and i think that takes confidence so maybe once you get more comfortable in the middle outside, you can move to the center. you have to be in good shape though and work on your control skills.
- You don't have the speed to play a wing or forward spot. You need to stay on the defensive side.
- you should play defensive midfield
- Defensive midfielder or maybe even center back (depending on your build). As a defensive midfielder, you wouldn't have to move a lot. And you say you're good at reading the game, so that's a definite plus. If you're a good tackler, too, even better, because your technically really playing a sort of center back position ahead of the actual center backs. Your ability to pass the ball and take free kicks would also help if you played in this position. Think Gattuso (AC Milan), Mascherano (Liverpool), Essien (Chelsea), and Diarra from Real Madrid as just a few examples. If you're tall, strong and good at heading the ball (especially away from your own goal), I'd say you should consider playing center back.
- Sounds like you would be best playing outside midfielder or staying as an outside defender. Outside midfield would be best if you have the speed and stamina to run the length of the field. If you feel comfortable enough, a position like defensive mid or stopper could suit you. Those positions usually provide more freedom and require good distribution skills. They also require someone who is very aware of the flow of the game
- Play like roberto carlos then, but stay in ur position.
- If you performes with right foot than work more on your position you can do better if you are lefty try left back.
- You just described Gary Neville, son. The problem is not your position, it's that upu're not using your full potential, or the entire range of your abilities. Ask the coach if you can work a few overlaps with the right half. It'll create space for you without requiring you to move with the ball a great deal, and you'll be able to open up passing opportunities and chances for you to get crosses into the box. Overlapping with the midfield will give you tons of confidence and freedom to create.
- u could play stopper, if you guys play with one, but if you know who owen Hargreaves is, you could play like him, he is a very good defensive mid
