In worldcup soccer what percentage of goals are not a result of free kicks, corner kicks or penalty kicks?
It seems very rare to score from normal play. The primary object of the game seems to be get someplace close to the goal and draw a foul. Or get a corner kick

- This is a common strategy. I would say it is about a 50/50 split between goals from live play and goals from set pieces. Since players at the higest level of play can bend the ball to put it anywhere they please, free kicks are more valuable than in lower levels of play, such as high school or small colleges. The higher the level of play, the more goals are scored from dead ball situations.
- I say about 60/40 though because there are plenty that are a result of pushing your offenses up and beating the defense
