Us Soccer Questions
Is anyone interested in helping me start a US Soccer Revolution website? I have bought a website in order to try to help soccer grow in the US. I have tons of ideas for making this website work as far as material that would bring the casual fans completely into the light, and new fans that are not that involved deeper into the beautiful game. I also have TONS of ideas that could make this a fun website. So who's in?
How do you feel about the improvement of US Soccer and what needs to be done to get to the next level? I am American born, first generation, and am proud to support the US Soccer team. I think our team has come a long way since I started watching them in the late 80s. As I've grown up I've seen our game and program grow significantly. I would like us to reach the next level of play, to compete with the elite teams of the world. I feel that we have great physical preperation, a knowledgable game plan, we are well organized in play with the ball and without the ball. However I feel that the only thing that keeps us from getting to that next level of play is something you can't teach...nastiness and bite. Something that only grows on you from playing it in the street...getting away with things, little plays that make a difference, and psychological torment. We have to learn to play on the outer edge of the rule book, with extra bite, and not be afraid to push the envelope. We definitley play more tame, you watch UEFA, CONEMBOL championships, they use whatever they can to get ahead.
Do you think changing the name from Soccer to FutBol can increase peoples attention here in the US? Imagine, everyone so far thinks here in the US of Footbol as Soccer right? Well, what if all of a sudden it's not called soccer anymore. What if suddenly like overnight, the commercials started coming out with Nike or Adidas saying, Are you ready for This? WORLD FUTBOL is here in America! Yes, World Futbol, not Amercan football. People would be like what? Specially since Beckham is coming, imagine the commotion this would create. If the MLS or US soccer organization wanted to make a change, I believe this would be the perfect timing. Specially with such a huge name coming to town, such as Beckham. What's your opinion?
What other countries support US soccer? Just curious if there are any countries out there that don't completely bash US soccer. I had heard that the German league supports the MLS but i haven't heard of who is on friendly terms with the US national men's team.
Will the US ever have a dominate soccer team? Let's face it. The majority of our premiere athletes go on to play football, basketball, and baseball. Leaving soccer with the much smaller players. Big, tall, and strong athletes do not go on to play soccer, they play football. Thus, it really hurts the US chances of having a world class team that can compete with the likes of England, Germany, Czech, and Netherlands. I am not saying our soccer players are not good, just saying they are undersized, and lack the talent of other countries. I will bet the majority of the people that will get offened by these statements are guys that are small and play soccer. This is not my intentions. I just think that US soccer would be awesome if we had someone like LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Urlacher, Carmello Anthony, Joey Porter, and Tom Brady on the team. Oguchi Onyewu is an exception to the rule. By the way, he is only 6' 2 185 lbs. That is not big.
US soccer ...? What's the deal with the US and the World Cup? Are the US players poor compared to the world? Or was it bad officiating? Or bad coaching?
What does the US Soccer program need to do now? With another earlier than expected exit from the World Cup, what does the USA team do now? How can they get over that illusive International hump and really compete with the world powers of soccer?
How did you feel when the US soccer team lost to Ghana? Honestly, I'm not a big soccer fan, but I do feel that as an American, it's respectful to show support, even if you don't like or understand the game. Also, keep this in mind. Our version of foot isn't like Europe's version. We play, "Kill the guy with the pig skin in his hand." Our version is the best I think! Especially MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL! :) DALLAS COWBOYS IN DA HOUSE! YEA BOI! :) Now that's AMERICAN FOOTBALL :) We're against everyone else? Or could it be that everyone else is against us? Hmmm............things that make you go, Hmmm. Well, at least we here in the States, don't go bonkers at "football" games, after our team loses, destroying the bleachers, running amuck in the streets, among other things. Yes I am black. I'm an American so I do support American athletic teams. Just in case somebody has something smart to say out there. :)
Are there any US Soccer Faithful out there? Yah thats right I said soccer! I guess you will have to get over it.:) Anyways, where are all of our supporters? Our rank is a bit unfortunate, but I only see good things to come Today I have seen many questions ie "What would you do if your country lost to the US" etc. Why is everyone hating on the US? Anyways, all feedback about US soccer is welcome please. *Personally I prefer the underdog role.*
US Soccer fans, what are your feelings about the teams level of play as of late ? I have to tell you, I'm somewhat frustrated. Why can we step it up a notch and play brilliantly against Brazil, Mexico or Italy and then show next to nothing against Sweden. If we had played Sweden like we played this past weekend, we should have crushed them. Anyway, I think coach Bradley's line up last Sunday was the perfect set up. That's the team we should go with for a while. Well Wolff is 30 now, but as long as he is playing as good as he has been I can"t see sitting him right now. Eventually they should put both Donovan and Dempsey up front and slide Freddie into the vacant wide out spot. When some of these young guys ( Zizzo, Danny, Johann Smith, Jozy ) tough desisions will need to be made.
What do you think of US Soccer President Sunil Gulati ? personally.... I think he nixed everything Bruce Arena proposed to help improve the state of the game in the states. I think he is personally responsable for blowing any chance we had at signing Klinsman. I think that when he finally did deside to go with Coach Bradley he only backed him up half way. Not sure what I think about Ryan being fired. The guy only lost ONE game.
What are some good US Soccer teams? i wanna offset,so i dont live in the USA,but i wanna bet fo a US Soccer Team tomorrow plays Kansas City Wizards - New England Re'lution what team is better?
Why do people outside the US complain when we call Football Soccer? Here in America it's been called Soccer since the early 1900's, during this time the sport was known world wide as soccer football but was later shortned for obvious reasons. So why do people complain about us call it soccer, calling it soccer is part of our soccer heritage, and as Americans we should be proud of this difference in name. whether or not soccer is more popular worldwide than american football is not important, Americans have been calling futbal soccer for ages, so stop telling us that its not called soccer its called futbal because that just isn't true
Does the rest of the world hate us cause we dont watch soccer? Im an american american soccer fan. But i think US forgien policy isnt the reason why the rest of the world hates us. I think we are hated cause we dont really pay attention to soccer. I think US forgein policy is great especially under Bush. USA does listen to the world on every issue expect when it comes up to soccer. The rest of the world needs to know that Bush sr played soccer infact he was the captain of the yale squad. Bush Jr enjoys the world cup so i think its time to forgive bush and start supporting his humanitarian efforts. If you like soccer you should like bush. If you like Bush then you should like soccer. Well I think soccer is getting popular in the states now so please start to like us again.
Why is it that only in the US is Football called soccer? Why is it that only in the US is Football called soccer, when it is really played with a foot 8or feet) and a ball...sounds more like football to me...at least that's what they call it in the rest of the world. OK, but lets be logical, American Football in hardly played with the feet, it's more of a hand game right?
Judgement about the competitiveness of US football/soccer? To anyone who is familiar with US professional soccer: How would you rank the level of ability of an average American professional soccer team with that of the highest-level leagues in other nations? Do they stand a decent chance of winning, or are they definitely sub-par. Perhaps you could rank it on a scale of 1-100, with 100 being the level that the "best" professional teams play at. Thanks in advance for any answers.
