does anyone think NHL is the best league to go live? (its greater than the world cup)? I think the NHL is better than any other league than other sports league. Im from a soccer family which they hate hockey. But the truth is ice hockey players are better atheltes than soccer players. You cannot except Ronaldinho to score a goal in hockey. but many hockey players can score goals in soccer. that proves hockey players are better athletes. need to find competitive soccer team 7 year old in Ohio? my son is a great soccer player and we want to find a competitive soccer team to play on. we live in Kenton, Ohio and can't seem to find any.(Kenton is 30 miles from findlay, 30 miles from lima, 50 miles from columbus). he has had over 150 goals in the last 20 months. he played in a soccer tournament last weekend and his team played 3 games, won all 3, the team scored a total of 29 goals and my son scored 15 of those. What do you think about Freddy Adu and his future.? Just to give a little backround. I am 15, I live in Ohio, I love soccer! I started to watch MLS in the 2005 season, and I love young superstars. I think Freddy Adu is one of the perfect young prodigy's in my eyes. He dribbles, shoots, passes and scores. He played well with DC. His winner against LA in 2005 was so sweet! Pro @ 14...come on!!! Now he is 17, and with Real Salt Lake. Even thought they kinda suck a lot, I thought that he would play well since he would play in the center, and not on the wings. But after theier recent games, you may rethink Freddyy's choice to be traded. He should have gone to Man Utd. reserve. But Freddy needs publicity and FIRST team games. Can you blame him? 3 year old son at an event made to pray ... what should I do? I've got a 3 year old son and he recently spent time with a family who took him to an activity at a fair or soccer or something. The father of the family is a pretty hardcore racist Republican type (he forwarded the Obama/monkey picture to me) and he knows I don't like religion. The father went out of his way to make sure I knew that my kid was kneeled over and praying at the activity he took him on. My wife said the activity was "Upward Bound", but that is federally funded so I thought it unlikely people would be praying there, but she won't give me specifics on the activity and thinks I'm over-reacting, but won't really tell me exactly where she took my kid. I live in an area that is one of most religious in U.S. and has school test scores around 48th in the nation. I know a lot of the kids around here grow up religious and are basically dumb as a board when it comes to hard math/science. There is a correlation I'm pretty sure. How do I deal with this? I don't want dumb kids. With respect to questions about "why I let the kid go". I didn't, he was with my wife and my wife made the decision to let him go. I definitely wouldn't have let him go and I'm still trying to find out where he went, and ya - I probably won't allow this to happen again. With respect to religion vs. brain power, there is a correlation between a persons religiosity and hard science capabilities. There are contradictory points in every case (top engineers who are Christian for instance), however the general trend is that the more religious a person is, the weaker their hard science/math skills. This isn't really up for debate. A Ph.D in Jesus pretty much guarantees you won't be building the next Cisco.

Pele isnt the greatest football player ever!! anyone agree?? How can this person be called the greatest player to have ever live? I just feel that there have been far greater players than him that have proven themselves against the best in the world. He never played outside america so he never played against the top defenders in europe week in week out (unlike george best and maradona) and if he did the defenders would have kicked the living daylights out of him any time he got the ball which was common back in his playing day. He wasnt much of an ahtlete either (unlike henry and gerrard etc) so he mostly likely wouldnt do well if he played in present day soccer. Boarding School Scholarship Qualifications? So, I'm 13, live in NC and am looking at boarding schools to attend too. I am taking the SSAT's this weekend. I would be hoping for a scholarship, I wouldn't be able to pay 40,000 dollars a year forsure. I have straight A's (last year I had a B- at the lowest in Algebra for one quarter), my math scores were off the charts at my former public school in NH, I have consistently been in the 95+ percentile. I am in the drama club, do chorus, and I swim competitivley. I have also participated in soccer. The one concern I have is that I have attended private school before, without scholarship, and do not Desperately need the money, but wouldn't be able to attend without a hefty scholarship. Honestly, what are the chances of getting into Pepperdine with these stats? With a cumulative grade point average of around 3.0, what are the chances of getting into a university like Pepperdine? I commit to and am a part of community services and other organizations. I also am a part of extracurriculars such as newspaper, and other outside school teams. I reviewed the information given on the university's website and found that I am able to participate in the school's soccer, swimming, and water polo teams. I will be taking two AP classes. I currently live in California but I do not know of anybody from my school who has ever applied to Pepperdine. However, I know of many who have received full four year scholarships for sports and are planning on attending the university. I do not believe anybody in my class will apply. Given this information, is there a way to find if I will make it in?

Does it matter if you dont much sports? Ive never really been sporty in terms of football (soccer) or rugby, even though I enjoy watching them. I think its because I went to school full of dicks, so my confidence in sport was taken away. Now that Im in college I never play them at all. Ive developed an interest in contact sports such as boxing, wrestling, martial arts etc. However, ive always been more into movies and music. Does this put girls off? If im not hunky or one of those guys that shouts and sings when my favourate team scores? I always feel like im not living my life properly or normally because of this. I read celebrity/actor biographies and everyone I read says they played sports when they were younger. Now im thinking what the hell is wrong.....

What universities should i consider? Hello at the moment I have a few universities i'm considering but none of them seem to convince me. There's so many universities out there and so little time I just want to make sure that wherever I end up i'll be happy... a little info about me... I live in Houston Texas 3.6 GPA Maybe a little above average student SAT scores: Math: 570 Critical Reading: 500 Writing: 450 I plan to take it again and do better on it English, I've taken four years Math- Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-calculus, Statistics Social Studies- World Geography, World History, US History, World Area Studies Science- IPC, Biology, Chemistry Foreign Language- Spanish 1, Spanish 2, Spanish 3, Spanish 4 Other- Soccer, Choir for two years, Debate, Record-keeping, college prep, Accounting. My dream school is RICE but I'm aware that it's an extremely selective school but that's kind of what i'm looking for... I'm more into small schools in metropolitan areas. ANYWAY tell me what you think, I want to hear it!

University of Arizona? I am an upcoming senior in high school. I live in Tennessee so I am applying from out of state. I play soccer and tennis for my school. What SAT score should I be targetting for a modest scholarship US scholarship? I am freaked out about suddenly having to give an American exam after giving so many British board examinations all my life. I dont live in the US so I dont have a very strong idea about what to target in my SAT exams this November. Initially I was thinking from around 2100 to 2250 but people tell I should be going for a higher target... I have a grade point average of 5 and have about 3 extra curriculum activities (3 extra languages + guitar + school soccer team). I am looking forward to full scholarships in renowned Universities (outside the Ivy league) What score should I look forward to?

Question about scholarship in the USA for international students? I dont live in the US, and I have given examinations on the British board known as Edexcel for my High school examinations. I intend to study in the USA and am looking for a good scholarship I havent given TOEFL examinations, but I am fluent in English and have an A in my O level examinations Since I believe it is a must to give my SAT I have decided to give it this November. I was wondering what scores could be considered competitive enough for a good scholarship in a modest University I intend to study mechanical Engineering or related subjects and I have a GPA 5 on all my previous results. For extra curriculum activities I speak 3 languages and about to finish another one soon, and I play the guitar, and have been on the school soccer team I am not expecting Harvard or Yale, but I would settle for any renowned universities What should I target on my SATs? Help with college and ACT? I scored a 28 on the ACT on my first try but i think i can pull it up higher! maybe a 30. My GPA is a 3.3 and I go to a very difficult private school. I want to apply in the US, Which sport scholarship should i apply for? I live in Pakistan. The school i am in right now is the largest in the country. And that seems to increase more, and more whenever I'm around the people I love the most. I must decide to either sacrifice them, or to just keep running. Chapter One : The Beginning To It All "Happy New-Years!", it seems thats all I hear today. Why am I cursed to keep the planet intact? Why not my father, or my mother, oh yeah their both dead now. "I don't have any friends, and I don't have a boyfriend either! You know that, you jerk I remember you Ashen! Your the boy who flirted with every girl on my street but they all rejected you, but I accepted you as my friend... then you just vanished. What happened to you and why didn't you tell me where you were going?" "Listen Akita, I told you we'll talk more when we get where were going." So I was ready to leave now, and we settled off to wherever Ashen was taking me. We got there, and it doesn't look anything I remember it to be. Chapter Five : A Trip Down Memories Lane Ashen when are you going to give up on those stuck up girls? Thats what I ask myself every time I see him drop down on one knee, and then ask the girl "will you marry me?" And the usual response "no way get away from me, freak!" I would giggle at the very sight of his actions, he seemed different from everyone else.... and thats why I asked him if he would be my friend of course he said "yes" and we became good friends. We were like siamese twins never leaving one anothers sight and when one of us did the other would go into a coma thinking "why, why did you leave me all alone" well this time Ashen didn't show up I did the same thing I locked myself up in my room called him, and called until my cell-phone died. He had been gone for over a week now, and I was worried. I didn't know where to look, I did know one thing though Ashen was gone and he was never coming back. He didn't even say goodbye, or anything! So eventually my mom and dad worried about me, they asked every day what was wrong, they sent me to counseling hoping to get an answer. But I swore I would never utter a single word until I saw Ashen again... I knew I missed my best-friend, he was the only one I could really talk to, to laugh about dumb stuff. I knew he liked me too, and thats what hurt the most, knowing he loved me and that maybe I loved him too. That is what burdened me the most so much that I thought I would die. I wanted him back it was over a month, that I hadn't seen him... thats when I decided to speak I needed to know anything, just something to tell me he was o.k! They said his father got mad, real mad and struck him so hard that two of Ashen's teeth fell out! And thats when his father really lost it, his father decided that if Ashen loved me and not him he would kill Ashen, then come after me too. Thats when Ashen took the knife and plunged it into his fathers arm his father was stuck and knew Ashen would kill him.... but he didn't he sparred his life , took the knife right out of his fathers arm and said "if you lay a finger on Akita I'll kill for real next time." And just disappeared. But I knew where he was going, he was going to Sojen Temple to become stronger. He said "Akita I'm going to the temple, so I can come back and kidnap you, then marry you and protect you forever" then he just vanished. But later on I found this temple, it was amazing cherry blossom trees scattered throughout the land, there were villages and farms dotted along the path to the temple. People were kind there, they were hospitable, and helpful to anyone! One gave me a place to sleep, and some dinner. They told me where to find the Sojen Temple, how to find Ashen! But thats where they're wrong... the temple never heard of an Ashen. I fainted and woke up in my room, "it was just a dream..." Chapter Six : Ashen Will Explain It All Ashen said that he would explain everything, but we've been here for over an hour. What's taking him so long anyway "I'll be back in two minutes, behave yourself while I'm gone Akita!" (yeah right, I wonder if coming here was such a good idea?) "I'm back Akita, how did you handle everything?" "Umm, good I guess, so your going to explain everything now? "Later, now you should eat something you look horrible Akita!" "Why you!"(what does he mean by horrible? I hope it's because he's just trying to change the subject!) Well, when I wake up tomorrow he's talking or I'll make him talk! O.k it's the next day I'm waiting for Ashen to wake up.... oh what's this a picture? Ha ha it's of us when we were little, I remember this. "Oh, you found that old thing?" (people always say that just to be modest...) I do remember that day, we were all muddy, and cold(it was raining that day, and I forgot my umbrella) so Ashen opened his and handed it to me... he got a cold the next day, and I felt horrible letting me take his umbrella while he got drenched with rain. Well heres the short answer, you were going to be murdered by something that you can't kill.... I came right when your old gramps called because, I wouldn't let my true love die. I ran, I ran right when he finished his sentence, because I was scared (.... I was going to be murdered, and did Ashen just say he loves me? This is all happening all so fast.... Is UCLA a possibility for me? I currently live in Bangalore, India, however I am a U.S. citizen, and my father lives and earns in California. Currently, I have straight A's (i.e. GPA is 4.0), my SAT 1 score was 2240, SAT 2 score was 2400, I am on the school soccer team, I am house captain (student council member) and am a member of the Model United Nations Club. I have also done some community service(held a charity bake sale and another fund raiser for the Rural Education Society). I also play the piano (level 2) and dance really well (pretty much the best in the school). What would my chances of getting into UCLA, or any other UC for that matter, be? Thanks.

My chances on being admitted to Stanford? I have an OK GPA (around 93-98%) and I am currently a Junior HS Student. I go to a few(2) clubs I'm interested in, and I'm in my school soccer varsity team. I'm also an international student who lived in 3 different latin american countries, a european country, and in an asian country(my country.) I've been 11 years abroad and have extensive experience on many stuff. My SAT mock scores are around 1900-2000, but I still have over a year to improve... What are my chances? Please, If you are in Stanford, plz help!
